Matthew G. Kovalcik, CFP, CDFA
Matt received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Marketing & Business Management from Franklin University in 1993. In addition, he earned the designation of Certified Financial PlannerTM(CFP) in 1997 and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) in 2007. He has nineteen years of experience in the investment and financial planning industry. Recognizing the benefit of fee-based planning, Matt formed what is now known as KGWP in 1998 when he opened a branch office for Raymond James Financial Services in Columbus, Ohio. In 2011 he took the firm one step further to the fee-only platform under which they operate today. Matt is the founder of the firm and co-managing partner.
Matt is an avid cyclist, tri-athlete and golfer. He was a member of Business First’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2007. Matt and his wife, Kris, split time between Bluffton, South Carolina and Powell, Ohio with their three children, Mary, Jimmy and Ellie, who suffers from Mitochondrial Disease. Matt's philosophy of “Today will be what I make it” inspired him to start and fund a clinical research trial on Mitochondrial Disease and genetic therapy at The Ohio State University. The goal of the research project is to give affected families hope for a cure.
Stephen P. Geraghty, CFP
Steve received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business in 1993. He formed his financial planning practice later that year with the Columbus office of Lincoln Financial Advisors after a two year internship with the firm. Steve earned his Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP®) designation in 1997 – an extensive training and educational program that includes just 20% of all financial advisors. In 2005, he formed Kovalcik & Geraghty Wealth Partners LLP and is currently Co-Managing Partner. KGWP completed its transition to a fee-only platform in 2012 further reinforcing Steve’s role as a fiduciary for his clients. He is a member of the National Association of Professional Financial Planners (NAPFA), the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and a member of the Columbus Council on World Affairs.
Steve lives in Upper Arlington with his wife, Sally, and their four children, Carly, Grant, Clare and Ryan. In addition to spending time with family, Steve is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing tennis and golf while also coaching numerous youth sports teams. He is an Executive Board Member for the Upper Arlington Junior Baseball Association. Past board experience includes Junior Achievement of Central Ohio, Upper Arlington Little League Baseball and Citizens for Humane Action (CHA) Animal Shelter.
